As we’d just come to the end of our 5-month travels around Europe, we wanted to spend our last few days in London in an apartment rather than a hotel. For the price of an average hotel we found a beautiful 2-bed apartment that was perfect for our needs. Just a short walk from West Kensington underground station, it made getting into central London very easy. Click here to see and book this apartment.
Living Room
We loved this apartment and after arriving we wished we had booked a few extra days. The living room was clean, bright and very comfortable. It had a large L-shaped sofa, flat screen TV and 4-seat dining table.
There was a window that looked out onto a beautiful street, and this also let in lots of natural light. The laminate flooring gave a modern look and the red chairs added a real splash of color.
Kitchen
The apartment had a modern open-plan kitchen that was perfect for our needs. When traveling long-term we like to be able to cook at least a few of our meals, and it was great to be able to do that after spending the last week or so at hotels. This is one of the major advantages of staying at an apartment rather than at a hotel.
The kitchen was very well equipped. It had a washing machine, dishwasher, toaster, kettle, pots, pans, dishes and cutlery. Washing powder and dishwasher tablets were also provided.
Main Bedroom
The main bedroom was at the back, and was very quiet. This, combined with the comfortable bed, ensured that we slept very well while we were there. The bedroom had a wardrobe and some additional built-in cupboards and drawers. There was also an iron and ironing board, another two things that are important if staying somewhere for more than a few days.
Bedroom 2
We didn’t use the second bedroom, but it looked comfortable and cosy. As well as a double bed, it also had a small wardrobe.
Bathroom
The bathroom was modern and nicely renovated. It was also very clean. The shower worked well and the water pressure was very good. Soap and shampoo were provided, and there was a powerful hairdryer in the drawer.
Location
The location was perfect for us. It was on a quiet street of beautiful red-brick houses, and as it was a residential area, it felt like we were in the real London and not the tourist London. But you still have easy access to all the tourist attractions. West Kensington underground station is just a few minutes’ walk away. There is a very large 24/7 Tesco supermarket a few minutes walk away. Earls Court is only a 5-10 minute walk, and that has all manner of shops, bars, restaurants and cafes.
Wifi
The wifi at the apartment worked well and was pretty fast. When tested, it showed as 15.55 Mbps download and 1.02 Mbps upload.
Check-In & Check-Out
We booked the apartment via FG Properties, who we found to be very professional in all our dealings with them. The check-in and check-out was organized by their guest services team, City Relay, who were very efficient. They have an office just a 2-minute walk from Earls Court underground station where we picked up the keys to the apartment, along with a folder containing information about the apartment, directions and a tube map. Their office is open 09:00-18:00 every day, but they can also organize out of hours check-in if you plan to arrive outside office hours. The check-in was quick and easy.
