Our experience with Airbnb has been a bit hit and miss, but the one-bed apartment that we stayed at in the old town of Split was definitely a good choice. It was located in the heart of the city and was very spacious. It’s so much more fun staying somewhere that has lots of space compared to staying in a tiny hotel room. The Living Room
This apartment was renovated about a year ago so still looks very new. Apartments in Split can be quite dark, but this one had plenty of light, as it had windows on two sides. The living room had two windows, the bedroom had one and the bathroom had one.
The living room had a large bed-settee, so this apartment could accommodate an extra two people if needed.
The living room had a large dining table with four chairs. I used this as my office. As you can see in the image above, it’s next to two large windows, so gets plenty of light.
The Bedroom
The bedroom was spacious and had plenty of light from the corner window. The bed was large and very comfortable. There was aircon in the room and this could also be used for heating.
The Bathroom
The bathroom was spotlessly clean and bigger than most bathrooms we’ve had recently. Towels were provided, and there were extra ones in the wardrobe.
The Kitchen
The kitchen arrangement was a little odd, as it was next to the bathroom in an alcove of the bedroom. It worked out ok though, as we only used it for making tea, coffee and a few snacks.
The kitchen had a 2-ring hob, fridge and kettle, as well as dishes and cutlery. There was tea and coffee available for our use as well.
Wifi
The internet speed was similar to the other two apartments we stayed at in Split. It tested as 5.28 Mbps download and 0.43 Mbps upload. It worked fine the whole time we were there.
The Location
The location of the apartment is superb. You can see the door to the apartment on the left of the image above. Walk to the end of the alleyway and turn right, and the main town square will be a few meters away. Turn left at the end of the alleyway and you’ll come to the cathedral and bell tower.
The apartment is just behind the clock you can see in the image above. This is the old town square. You’ll have everything you need within minutes’ walk of this apartment. In fact, many things will be within a few seconds’ walk.
The Hosts
The property is owned by Ante and Ivana. We met Ante at the entrance to the property and he showed us how everything worked. He offered help with local restaurants and attractions, but we didn’t need this as we’d already been in Split for almost a week. He was very friendly and helpful. He’s left a few travel books at the apartment, and this was were quite helpful, as we still have around three months of our Europe trip left.
