We spent three nights at Dosud Apartments, staying on the top floor. This had excellent views looking out onto the old town. It was just a few meters from the Riva, so easy to find and easy to get around town on foot. It’s also a very easy walk from the train station and from the airport bus stop. Our apartment was on the top floor of the middle building shown above. The window on the left, with the shutters open, is the bathroom, and the window on the right is the bedroom.
The entrance is at the back of the building. Just walk up the steps on the left, passed the excellent Figa Cafe, and you’ll be at the front door.
It’s not often we get to stay somewhere that has views like this. The old town in Split is stunning, and it was great that our apartment looked out over the old buildings. Just imagine waking up to this every morning.
The Bedroom
Our bed was very comfortable and we slept well every night that we stayed there. The windows in the apartment have shutters, so you can close them at night to ensure you have a dark room to sleep in. We liked to keep the shutter slats open though, as that let the morning sun into the room and it made for natural wake up. There were bedside cabinets either side of the bed and also power points. There were additional power points in the kitchen area and at the other end of the room.
At the bottom of the bed there was an easy chair, a tray table and two stools/tables. There was a cupboard in the corner for our clothes and also some hangers and hanging space behind the door.
The Kitchen
The room had a small kitchen area that included a sink, 2-ring hob, kettle and fridge. This was perfect for our stay, as we were able to make tea, coffee and light snacks. There were complimentary bottles of water in the fridge and also a bowl of nuts and dried figs.
As you can see from the image above, the kitchen cupboard was well stocked with everything we needed for our stay.
There were enough dishes and cutlery in the other cupboard. Everything in the kitchen was sparkling clean, as was the whole apartment.
The Bathroom
So many bathrooms these days don’t have windows, so we loved that fact that the bathroom at this apartment had an external window and lots of natural light. It really does make a huge difference to how a bathroom feels. Towels were provided and there was also a spare set in the bedroom cupboard.
Aircon & Heating
The apartment had an aircon unit that could be used to keep the room cool in summer and warm in winter. It was a little cold on our first day at the apartment, but the aircon warmed the room up within minutes.
Wifi
When we tested the internet speed it was 4.3 Mbps download and 0.53 Mbps upload. It worked well and was stable the whole time we were there. Videos to youtube.com loaded fairly quickly.
Location
As mentioned above, the apartment was in a perfect location, just a few meters behind the Riva. This makes the apartment particularly easy to find when you first arrive. Being right in the town center means that you don’t have to walk too far and it’s also easy to take day trips to some of the islands, as the ferry port is only a short walk away.

The Host
There are only three apartments in this building, so it’s quite private. The owner, Lidia, is a very friendly and helpful person and she’s made sure that these apartments have been beautifully renovated. We contacted her via email and she always answered any queries we had very quickly. She wasn’t available when we arrived at the apartment, but we were met instead by Ivan, another very friendly person. He showed us how everything at the apartment worked and we even went for a coffee with him later. He’s a local and knows the area and history of the town, so is a great person to have on hand if you need any information. It felt so much more personal than at a hotel and is one of the great things about this apartment.
