For our first few days back in Bangkok after five months in Europe, we decided to try a different hotel in our favorite area of the city, Silom. We stayed at Furama Silom Hotel, which is about a 5-10 minute walk from Chong Nonsi BTS station. The room was huge, the wifi was fast, and there was a swimming pool on the rooftop. Breakfast was also included. Click here to book a room at Furama Silom Hotel.
Our room on the 8th floor was huge, and much, much bigger than a normal hotel room. It had a very large and very comfortable double bed, aircon that worked amazingly well, a large double wardrobe and large TV.
There was a large and comfortable sofa in the corner of the room that made it feel a little more homely.
The room also had a large fridge/minibar, large cabinet with drawers and cupboards, and a sink and work area.
Two bottles of free water were provided every day. There was also free tea and coffee, a kettle and cups. While our room was very clean, it did feel a little dated and could probably do with being renovated. But we still thought it was pretty good value for money
The bathroom was clean, but a little dated. Shower gel and shampoo were provided, as well as a hair dryer.
The shower area was large and the shower worked very well.
Wifi
The wifi worked well and was pretty fast. When tested, it showed as 15.34 Mbps download and 2.86 Mbps upload. If you have a laptop you might have to ask at reception about logging on, as it’s different to the smartphone logon details that they give you.
Breakfast
The breakfast selection was the largest I’ve ever seen at a hotel. Around 20 hot dishes, a separate section for toast, bread and pastries, porridge, soups, around 6 types of fresh fruit, hard and soft boiled eggs, cereals, plus a chef making omelettes and other things.
Swimming Pool & Rooftop Bar
The hotel has a rooftop bar and swimming pool on the 20th floor that’s quite popular with guests. There are also great views of the city from the rooftop.
Location
Silom is our favorite part of the city, so the location was perfect for us. What’s great about Silom is that it’s near to the BTS, but also near to the river, so getting around is easy. There are also quite a few interesting things to do in the area that most tourists don’t know about. See Things To See & Do In Silom. Nearest BTS station is Chong Nonsi, which is a 5-10 minute walk. Surasak station is a 10-15 minute walk.
