For our time in Sarajevo, we stayed at Guesthouse Kandilj which is located in the city center, just a few minutes walk from the town square, bazaar/market area and Latin Bridge, where Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated in 1914. It’s a very good guesthouse and we can highly recommend it. Click here to book a room at Guesthouse Kandilj.
The Room
Our room at Guesthouse Kandilj had a double bed and a single bed, so could be a good option for a couple with a child. The room was fairly spacious, and also had a wardrobe, bedside cabinets, flat screen TV and aircon and heating. There was a window the looked out to the small courtyard at the front. The room was on the first floor.
This is the view looking towards the window. The bathroom is to the left.
The bathroom had a window facing out to the courtyard below, so there was natural light in the bathroom, which is a bit of a rarity in hotels.
The shower in the bathroom worked well. Soap and shampoo were provided.
Wifi
The wifi worked well the whole time that we were at the hotel. When I tested the internet speed it showed as 8.24 Mbps download and 039 Mbps upload.
Breakfast
Breakfast was served in the basement, which also doubles as a living room area. There is a TV and computer available for guests to use.
The buffet breakfast is served from 07:30 until 10:00. There was the usual selection you’d expect, plus eggs that were cooked to order.
Location
The location of the hotel is really good, being around 100 meters to Latin Bridge (where Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated in 1914), the old town and market area. This means that it’s easy to get to all the main attractions on foot.
There’s a small courtyard at the front of the hotel. The reception is the door to the right and the guesthouse rooms are straight ahead. The small window looks into the breakfast room.
