Hotel Darcet is described by many reviewers as a hidden treasure, and when we first arrived we could see why. The rooms are newly refurbished in a fairly minimalist style and are very clean. The staff are friendly and helpful and the place just has a great vibe about it. The location is also perfect, being just a 2-minute walk from Place de Clichy Metro station on Lines 2 & 13. Our room was fairly small, but the minimalist design made the most of the space, so it didn’t feel too cramped, as some small hotels rooms do. The bed was comfortable and everything in the room worked well. There was a radiator for heating and also an air conditioner.
The hotel had a small wardrobe that had a safety deposit box in it. There was also a small desk and two chairs and a flat screen TV. There was a power point above the desk and one on each side of the bed.
The bathroom was very nicely renovated and very modern.
The shower worked well and was fairly large considering the size of the bathroom. The bathroom also had a heated towel rail, which kept the room warm – just what you need in winter.
We were lucky to have a room with a balcony, but as it was winter we didn’t make much use of it.
Our room was on the 5th floor. The hotel has a small lift and also a spiral staircase leading to the rooms.
Wifi
When I tested the wifi speed it was fairly fast, but it was quite slow when we used it and often cut off. Not great, but the rest of the hotel was so good that we were willing to put up with it.
Tea & Coffee
You can help yourself to free tea and coffee on the ground floor at any time. Many guests buy something from the bakery across the road for breakfast and then come back to the hotel to eat it with their tea or coffee.The reception is manned 24-7.
This room also has a TV, PC with internet access and tables and chairs where you can eat the breakfast you bought from the bakery.
Location
The hotel is a in a perfect location, being only a 2-minute walk from Place de Clichy Metro station on Lines 2 & 13. It’s also only about a 5-minute walk to the world famous Moulin Rouge. It’s easy to get to other attractions in Paris from this Metro station.
When you leave Place de Clichy Metro station you’ll see the above restaurant right in front of you. Walk down the road and Rue Darcet will be the second turning on your right. The hotel is just a few meters down that road on the right hand side. It’s very easy to find.
