Bangkok has a good range of pharmacies located all over the city, so you shouldn’t be too far away from one wherever you’re staying. The two main pharmacy brands are Watsons and Boots, but there are also numerous independent pharmacies, as well as pharmacies in most supermarkets. Click here for a superb range of hotels in Bangkok.
Watsons
Watsons is the No. 1 health and beauty retailer in both Asia and Thailand and currently has over 260 stores, with over 150 of these being in the Bangkok area. The stores are modern and have a great range of health and beauty products and well as well-stocked pharmacies. You’ll find many Western goods on sale here, although they are generally more expensive that local products. Watsons is very popular with local Bangkokians.
Boots
If you’re from the UK you’ll be very familiar with Boots, as it’s the No. 1 pharmacy store there. Boots has almost 200 store in Thailand, with many of these being located in the Bangkok area. The stores tend to smaller than rival Watsons, and don’t seem to be as popular. They sell a wide range of Western goods, mainly at higher than Western prices. Their pharmacists are very knowledgeable.
Independent Pharmacies
You’ll come across plenty of independent pharmacies in Bangkok, with many being family-owned one-off stores. These are great places to head to for minor ailments, and I’ve always found the pharmacists to be helpful and knowledgeable. They are very familiar with all the common ailments that you might end up with in Bangkok.
Supermarket Pharmacies
Almost all large supermarkets have pharmacies and these usually offer good value for money and sell medical products that smaller pharmacies don’t tend to stock.
7-Eleven & Family Mart
If you just want something simple like some condoms or paracetamol, you can get there from 7-Eleven, Family Mart and many smaller mom and pop stores.
