There are many types of visas available for both short and long-term visits to Thailand, including visa-free entry, tourist visa, education visa, retirement visa, work visa and marriage visa. But if you have enough money one of the best visas available is the Thailand Elite visa. There are different types of membership available, with the basic package (Thailand Easy Access Membership) costing 500,000 baht (around $15,500) for a 5-year Privileged Entry visa.
But the Thailand Elite visa isn’t just a visa, as it also includes many additional benefits. When arriving on international flights at Suvarnabhumi (Bangkok) or Phuket airports you’ll be greeted from your flight by a Thailand Elite Personal Assistant and taken on an electric cart to the Exclusive Arrivals Lounge. You won’t need to queue with other passengers at the immigration desks, but will be taken through fast-track immigration channels with the minimum of fuss. But that’s not all. After you are through the fast-track immigration and have collected your bags you’ll be taken to your hotel or condo by limousine. The limousine service operates from Suvarnabhumi, Chiang Mai, Phuket and Samui.
When arriving for an international flight out of the country (at Suvarnabhumi and Phuket airports) you’ll also have personal assistants to help with check-in and passport formalities.
The Thailand Elite staff are also available to help you by phone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They can help with such issues as getting a Thai driving licence or arranging a work permit. Note that the the Thailand Elite visa does not allow you to work. If you want to work in Thailand you’ll need to obtain a work permit and separate work visa.
If you opt for Individual Membership the costs is 2,000,000 baht (around $62,000) for 20 years. This membership level also has a 20,000 baht ($625) annual fee, but gives you many extra privileges. These include complimentary green fees at Thailand’s best golf courses (24 times per calendar year), and complimentary spa treatments at Thailand’s leading spas (24 times per calendar year). And just to make sure you stay in good health you also get a complimentary premium annual health check-up at one of Thailand’s top international-standard hospitals.
There are also special discounts available at shopping malls and leading restaurants.
If you’re planning to stay in Thailand with family members, then Family Membership is also available for 1,000,000 baht (around $31,000) for 5 years.
You must be 20 years or older to apply for the Thailand Elite visa and it’s subject to Thailand Immigration Bureau approval.
The visa needs to be renewed annually, but you can do this from within Thailand, so there’s no need to leave the country, as is the case with some other visas.
