Brighton is one of the best cities in the UK for vegetarians and vegans. It has numerous vegetarian restaurants, so we had no hope of eating even at half of them. The ones we ate at were mostly great and we’d love to come back and try all the others. If you’re a vegetarian or vegan, you should definitely spend some time in Brighton.
Iydea
Out of all the places we ate, this was the best food. Iydea has two cafes in Brighton, with this one being on Kensington Gardens in North Laine. The other cafe is on Western Road. At lunchtime they have a counter service where you choose one hot dish, two side dishes and two toppings. They also have an extensive breakfast menu that’s available until around 11:30.
The photo above doesn’t really do the food much justice. It looked much better in real life and tasted delicious. Blame the cameraman! This would be my number one place to eat if I lived in Brighton.

Bombay Aloo
This is the best value restaurant that we’ve come across in the UK. Bombay Aloo has been around for almost 20 years and still gets packed every day. It’s an all you can eat Indian vegetarian buffet that’s open from noon until midnight every day. There are about 20 dishes to choose from, including Onion Bhajee, Saag Aloo, Chick Peas Aloo, Tarka Dall, Rice & Naan Bread, Mixed Vegetable Curry, Swede & Mushroom Curry and Mixed Vegetable Korma.
Much of the food is suitable for a vegan diet, so just ask the staff to point out which dishes these are. The price is the most amazing part. It’s just £4.95 per person, and only £3.95 during Happy Hour, which I think is from 15:30 to 17:30. Bombay Aloo is one of our favorite veggie places in Brighton

FilFil Cafe
FilFil Cafe is a great place to eat at if you love falafel. The cafe owner, Amal, is originally from the Middle East, so the falafel here is authentic and prepared from the family recipe. It’s a small cafe and takeaway that has a very relaxed vibe. It’s located on Gardner Street, in the heart of the North Laines. We ate here on our first day in Brighton and were very impressed.

Infinity Foods Kitchen
I’ve eaten here a few times in the past and always had great food, but I was a little disappointed when we ate there today. I had the curry, dahl and rice, but the food was quite bland. The presentation left a lot to be desired as well.
The food above doesn’t look great and it didn’t taste great either. I wish I’d chosen something else from the menu. The veggie breakfast looked good, but I’d had that a few times recently in the UK, so fancied a change.
This shop is almost opposite FilFil Cafe that’s mentioned above.

Chocaffinitea
Chocaffinitea is a great vegetarian and vegan cafe that sells excellent quality organic single origin coffee, a range of high-quality teas, yummy raw chocolate, delicious lunches and a range of desserts, such as the Vegan Key Lime Pie shown above.
We found this excellent cafe just after eating at Iydea. Walk to the end of Kensington Gardens and you’ll see Chocaffinitea across the road to your left, on Gloucester Road.
This is a great place to hang out if you love coffee or tea. We’d be here often if we lived in Brighton.

Brighton has hotels to suit all budgets. It’s best to chose a hotel close to the city center if you don’t have your own transport, as it will make getting around much easier. Check out what hotels are available with our favorite hotel booking site at Agoda Brighton.
