We spent three days in Ubon Ratchathani and managed to find three vegetarian restaurants. Two were near to Thung Si Muang, with the third being a couple of kilometers away. The food at all of them was very good. Click here to book a great hotel in Ubon Ratchathani.
Phuza Cafe
Phuza Cafe was our favorite place to eat in Ubon, and was only a few minutes walk from Thung Si Muang, the location of the Candle Festival.
The food here is made to order and everything we had was delicious.
This is a very large cafe, and looks as if three traditional shophouses have been knocked through into one.
The staff here only speak Thai and the menu is also in Thai, but the menu has photos of some of the dishes. So you can chose one of those if you want to see what you’re getting in advance. I read that the owner has in the past used Google Translate on his laptop to translate Thai into English to help non-Thai customers know what’s on the menu.
Here is one of the photo pages from the menu.
Phuza Cafe is quite easy to find. Just follow the directions below.
The two meals shown at the top, plus one oolong tea and one iced tea cost around 220 baht ($7).
Highly recommended and open until 20:30.

Khuanthani Road Vegetarian
This is a typical Thai shophouse-style vegetarian restaurant, with the food here being very good. The above meal cost 60 baht ($2). It’s around a 5-minute walk from Thung Si Muang and quite easy to find it you follow the directions below.
The staff speak a little English, but you mostly just need to point to what you want. Very good value for money.

Ratcha Thani Road Vegetarian
This place is easy to find, as it’s only around 100 meters off Chayang Kun, which is the main road that runs through the city. The owner speaks fairly good English, which is a bonus for Ubon.
This place is a little unusual because it’s located in what seems to be the corner of a large open warehouse type space. The food is good though and the owner is very friendly.
This place is open Monday to Saturday from around 08:30 to 15:00. The food is on display, so just choose whatever you like. They also have somtum (papaya salad) here.
The seating area here is quite spacious.
This is a great place to eat vegetarian food if you’re staying in this area.
