We only spent two days in Udon Thani, so didn’t have a chance to eat at all of the vegetarian restaurants that we had heard about. But we did manage to get around to a few of them. Here’s an overview of where we ate.
Jay Jay Vegetarian, Pho Si Road
Jay Jay is a popular restaurant on Pho Si Road, opposite Aek Udon Hospital. It’s only a couple of minutes’ walk from UD Town, near the junction with Thong Yai.
During the morning and lunchtime they have the food on display and you just choose what you want. Later in the day the meals are cooked to order. They also sell somtum here.
The restaurant is very easy to find – just look for the bright yellow signs outside.
Jay Jay Vegetarian Details

Zing Zing Vegetarian
Zing Zing is a large vegetarian restaurant on Pho Si Road, around 5-10 minutes walk further up the road from Jay Jay Vegetarian mentioned above. It has typical Thai shophouse veggie food and also sells somtum.
This restaurant is open from 06:00-18:00, but as with other veggie restaurants in Udon Thani, the food tends to run out later in the day. So arrive earlier to be sure of a wider choice.

Prajak Sillapakom Vegetarian
This restaurant is on Prajak Sillapakom, which is the main road that leads from the train station passed Central mall. The restaurant is a little further than Central mall, on the right hand side.
The food here is typical Thai shophouse style. You have a choice of rice or noodles. It’s quite a small restaurant with friendly staff.
Like the other veggie places is Udon Thani, it’s easy to spot because of the bright yellow signs.
Prajak Sillapakom Vegetarian Details

UD Town Food Court
We didn’t eat here, but spotted that there is a vegetarian food stall at the UD Town Food Court. UD Town is right next to the train station. The vegetarian stall at the food court is open from 16:00-23:00 every day. It might close early on some days, so don’t leave it too late.

While in Udon Thani we stayed at City Inn. This is centrally located, and is close to the train station, bus station, UD Town and Central Mall.
