While in Berlin we stayed in the Mitte district, which is right in the center of the city and where most of the attractions are located. We found some great vegetarian and vegan restaurants and cafes in this area, mostly around Rosenthaler Platz U-Bahn station.
Daluma
This was definitely our favorite veggie place in Berlin. The food here is awesome. The place gets packed with locals and you may have to wait for a table. It’s a relaxed and causal place though, s expect to share a table when it’s really busy.
For lunch you pick the base (rice mix, lentils, pasta, quinoa or raw mix) and then pick the topping (hemp, tomato, almond-lime or herbs). I had the quinoa and almond-lime. The almond-lime consisted of mushrooms, radish, iceberg lettuce, almond butter, lime, tamari, ginger, linseed oil, coconut blossom sugar and sprouts. Delicious.

Chay Viet
Chay Viet is a fantastic vegetarian Vietnamese restaurant that’s only 2-3 minutes’ walk from Rosenthaler Platz U-Bahn station (U8). We went there for lunch on our first day in Berlin and it was pretty packed.
We had Fresh Spring Rolls as a starter and Vietnamese Curry and a large bowl of Pho for the main meals. All were delicious.
The three dishes above, plus two coffees and a tea came to under EUR22 ($25). That seems like a real bargain after eating out in London and Paris.
To get to Chay Viet, take the U8 train to Rosenthaler Platz, leave via the Brunnenstrasee exit, turn right and walk for around 200-300 meters. Chay Viet is just passed the traffic lights on the left.

The Jivamukti Canteen
The Jivamukti Canteen is almost directly across the road from Chay Viet. It’s a cafe that’s attached to a yoga studio, and sells a range of simple meals such as sandwiches, soups and salads.

Vielfalter
Vielfalter is a cafe that’s attached to an organic store. When we went they only had one hot dish, which was a lasagne. We were a little disappointed with choice of food so ate elsewhere. But the menu changes, so you may be luckier than we were. This is another cafe that’s part of a yoga studio. This is further up the road from Chay Viet. It’s near the exit of Bernauer Strasse U-Bahn station (U8).

Djimalaya
This isn’t a vegetarian restaurant but it does have a range of vegan dishes that are clearly marked on the menu. These are mainly hummus, salad and grill dishes.
To get to this restaurant, take the U-Bahn to Rosenther Platz, leave the station via the Brunnenstasse exit and turn right. Walk towards the traffic light and turn left. You’ll see the restaurant a little ahead of you on the left. It’s a nice, modern space and the service is good.

Other Places
We also ate at two non-vegetarian cafes. Walk to the bottom of Brunnenstrasse and you’ll come to Torstrasse. Turn rig and you’ll see a Lebanese cafe called Adonis across the road. We had a great falafel meal there. Turn left instead of right and you see a small Vietnamese cafe called Soup ‘n’ Rolls. They do vegetarian spring rolls, currys, etc.
Hotels In Berlin
While in Berlin we stayed at Park Inn by Radisson on Alexanderplatz. It’s a great hotel in a perfect location. You’ll be spoiled for choice in Berlin, as there’s an extensive range of hotels and the prices are much more affordable than in cities like London and Paris. Check out Agoda Berlin to see what else is on offer.
