The White Apartment was without doubt one of the best places we’ve stayed at on our 5-month travels around Europe. We loved everything about this apartment – the minimalist style, the very fast wifi, the well stocked kitchen, the free local phone and the espresso machine. The location was perfect as well, being just 400 meters from the famous Dragon Bridge. Click here to book this apartment.
Living Room
That’s the espresso machine you can see in the corner. There were also around 30 capsules of coffee for us to use. All walls in the apartment were white, which made the place look amazingly spacious. But there was still lots of color from the artwork.
Here’s a close-up of the espresso machine. This helped ensure a great start to every day.
The large mirror also helped make the living room seem very spacious. Below it were some travel books about Slovenia, as well as a large drawer that had a first aid kit, spare bulbs, screwdrivers, books and other odds and ends. These are items you may only need once in a while but are hardly ever included in short-term rental properties.
Above you can see the large flat screen TV, as well as the kitchen, and beyond it the bedroom. You can also get to the bedroom from the opposite side of the apartment, which is another aspect that helps make the apartment feel very spacious. Below the TV there is a remote control for the window shutters, which are on all three windows – living room, kitchen and bedroom.
Kitchen
The kitchen was an awesome area of the apartment. There was a full-size fridge, microwave oven, dishwasher, 2-ring ceramic hob, kettle and toaster. Also a full range of pots and pans, utensils, dishes and cutlery. This was a very well equipped kitchen.
The kitchen also had a dining table and four chairs, with lots of light from the large window.
Often vacation rental apartments have kitchens but you can’t cook much because you don’t have basic ingredients such as salt, pepper, olive oil, etc. But this apartment had an amazing amount of these, plus lots of other ingredients. The owner, Nadja, had even stocked the fridge with some milk, beer and fruit juice. The cupboards had tea, coffee, olive oil, vinegar, salt, pepper and other herbs. There were also some dry ingredients such as rice. This was the best stocked kitchen we’ve had on our travels.
Bedroom
The bedroom had a very comfortable bed, which meant we slept very well during our stay. There was a large wardrobe that had an iron, ironing board, safety deposit box, extras blankets and extra towels.
Bathroom
The bathroom was small but modern. Shower gel and shampoo were provided, as well as a hairdryer.
The shower was a little bigger than we usually get, the water pressure was great and the water temperature was easy to control.
Wifi
The wifi at the apartment was very fast and very stable. When I test it the speed showed at around 9 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload.
Location
The location is really good, being just 400 meters from the famous Dragon Bridge. The railway station is 1.2 km away, but quite an easy walk, even with luggage. If you prefer to get a taxi from outside the station it should cost around EUR 5. The funicular railway to Ljubljana castle is just 350 meters away. The fresh market is 300 meters away.
